Discover a Better Way to Stay Aware

The Proxus App uses Bluetooth to detect proximity to other people who might be out of sight in order to help make hiking, biking, and ORV operation less stressful. With our app, you can enjoy your outdoor activities with the confidence that comes from knowing you'll be alerted when someone else is nearby. Whether you're exploring a new trail or enjoying your favorite outdoor spot, the Proxus App is your ally in awareness.

Our Mission

At Proxus, we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy the great outdoors without worrying about taking a mountain bike to the face. That's why we created the Proxus App - to provide an easy-to-use tool that helps you stay aware of your surroundings and avoid potential dangers. Our team is made up of experienced outdoor enthusiasts who understand the importance of staying safe and we're committed to providing you with the tools you need to explore the world safely.

Devices

"All" tab

This shows every device in range. Devices in the My Devices tab or the Friends tab are filtered out and Proxus does not trigger an alarm when they are within range. This reduces "nuisance alarms"

"My Devices" tab

Devices in the "My Devices" tab are filtered out and will not trigger an alarm. These are for low-power devices such as earbuds, smart watches, fitness monitors, etc. Devices can be individually named, deleted, or moved to "Friends" using the three-dot thingie

"Friends" tab

Devices in the "Friends" tab are filtered out and will not trigger an alarm. These are for friends we usually walk, run, hike, bike, or ORV with. Devices can be individually named, deleted, or moved to "My Devices" using the three-dot thingie

Activity

Hiking

Hiking/ walking/ running is the least sensitive setting due to relative speed

Biking

The Biking setting is more sensitive than Hiking, but uses more phone battery power because it samples for Bluetooth signals more frequently

ORV

The ORV (Off Road Vehicles) setting is the most sensitive setting because it samples for new Bluetooth signals constantly. As a result, this setting has the most detrimental effect on battery power

Alone

Use the "Alone" option when you do not intend to use the "Lost Device" feature to be alerted to friends who fall out of range

Group

Use the "Group" option when you want to be alerted to friends who fall out of range. This allows you to stop and circle back to ensure nobody gets left behind

Group Member Selection

Android phones and new versions of Apple iOS sometimes hide the names of phones within range. We're working on a work-around for this, but sometimes you simply see "Unknown device".

Option 1 - Go with your group to some place where you will not get any other Bluetooth signals, and then select all of the signals Option 2 - Have everyone disable their Bluetooth, then as they turn it on one by one, you'll see them appear and you can select them
